God is so patient. But in his goodness he can only tolerate so much sin. Here we see that God will make good on his word. Peter warns that we should not think that God will not come back because of his patience. Every word of blessing and curse will be fulfilled.
The reason for the exile of the Jews to Babylon amazes me. They did not give the land its required Sabbath rest so God removed them from the land so it could make up for lost rest. God cares about us and he cares about all of his creation even to this radical extent!
Still with God even the greatest tragedy has a silver lining. God planned good for his people even as the marched away from their homes as prisoners of the Babylonian army. He knew they would return at a time when the messiah could come and impact the whole world.
