As I read Gen. 6 today, I am, yet again, amazed at God's love and tolerance. His patience is difficult to comprehend, but, I'm very grateful for it. As I read about Noah today, it dawned on me, that we owe him a huge debt of gratitude. It was because of Noah's blameless and righteous life that God decided not to destroy every single human and animal. I can only wonder if any humans would be here, if he had not found one righteous man. We may never know how far reaching the impact of our lives can be when we decide to live righteously before God. You may be the only one at your workplace, in your neighborhood, in your home, etc. who strives to do the right thing, but know this. You have a God that loves you, who will never leave you or forsake you (Hebrew 13:5). I'm thankful that God gave us another chance. Lets all decide today to live our lives in such a way that is pleasing to God, even though it is difficult at times. Don't we all want God to look at us and be pleased with our righteous lives, even though the world around us is filled with wickedness. I imagine Noah had no idea, when he decided to walk with God, that because of him, the world would be rebuilt and humans would continue to inhabit it. What impact will your decision to follow God, have on the world?
"D" God sought after mans heart even thought he saw the wickedness of our heart, God still search for one that would found favor in Noah. So he could spear us. Its amazing what can happen to one's life when you allow God to be in control. Noah total obey God in this passage and hence he was saved. This passage tells me that God looks for ways to save us even in our wickedness.
"R" This tought me that when things in life get tough you should rely on faithful men who walk with God to help you out. It is not normally wise to seek advice from a worldly person because they don't know the truth. In this case the world was pretty much completly corrupt except for Noah. We see God put all of his dependence on one Man of God to ultimatly help him carry on his Word to the futrue of man kind..
Abram was a great man of faith. He uprooted his family to move to a land that the Lord would show him. It is encouraging to see his obedience and reliance on God. What's interesting is Abram was 75 years old at that time. This should encourage us all as we age, to know that God will still use us in powerful ways, if we allow him to. There is no such thing as retirement from the Lord's service. We may not be able to do all that we used to do, or want to do, but there are still things that we CAN do to glorify God, if we try.
The biggest thing that jumped out at me from Genesis 6 is how the people's actions made God hurt. I think it is so beautiful my God feels so deeply that "his heart was filled with pain." As the creator of the universe, the Lord could have set up a world where he is distant and doesn't need to feel pain or joy. But, he didn't. Our God made a world where he is so connected, so invested that he is affected by our lives. It is amazing to me! What an awesome God!
